The YWCA Oklahoma City’s Prevention Education Program works with the Oklahoma State Department of Health. The program uses a multi-session, evidence based curricula facilitated by a Prevention Education Coordinator. Each session is about an hour in length. Through guided discussions, students learn to recognize abusive relationships and what to do to stay safe, as well as how to develop healthy relationships. Prevention Education focuses on proactively preventing dating and sexual violence. These classes are taught at schools, youth centers, churches or any other locations where groups of teens or young adults gather. It is easy and free to become a participating site in the Prevention Education Program.
